Kari Knowlton was high-point winner in the 9-10 girls division, Carlos Negrete jr. was high-point in the 9-10 boys division, Luke Wall was high-point in the 7-8 boys division, Emily Wall was high-point in the six and under girls division and Jessica Hammons tied for high-point honors in the six and under girls divi- sion. Jerrod Riggan pitches shutout two innings for New York Mets Jerrod Riggan, Brewster High School graduate, made the most of his call up to the New York Mets on July 21 by pitching two scoreless innings in his first out- ing against the Florida Marlins on July 24. The Metsended up losing t0 Florida but the loss did not go to Riggan. Jerrod pitched two innings and faced six batters. He gave up no hits, no runs, no walks and struck out one batters. He threw 16 strikes in his 25 pitches and had two groundouts and three fly balls. Riggan also pitched one inning against the Philadelphia Phillies last Saturday in a 4-3 win. He did not get the win or the save but pitched one inning and gave up one hit, one run, no earned runs, no walks and one strikeout. Cody Gunn gets a double for Johnson City Cardinals Cody Gunn, Brewster High School graduate, went 1-3 with a double last week for the Johnson City Cardinals in their game against Bristol. Johnson City is a single-A Rookie League affiliate of the St. Louis Car- dinals playing in the Appalachian Rookie League. As of July 29, Gunn is batting .205 after 39 at bats and has two runs scored, eight hits, two doubles, twoRBIs, two walks ad 16 strikeouts. Johnson City has a 16-21 record in the Appalachian League and is eight games behind first place Elizabethton, which have a 21- 10 record. John Gebbers finishes season with Wenatchee AppleSox , Wenatchee AppleSox, semi-pro , baseball team. finished out their sea- son with two wins over Kelowna last week. John Gebbers, Brewster High School graduate, plays for Wenatchee. The AppleSox needed to be in the top two places of the Northern Divi- sion of the Pacific International League, but the Bellingham Bells gained the final berth with a victory over Seattle Cruisers. Wenatchee started out the week with a 13-8 victory over Kelowna on July23. Gebbers was 2-4 with a double and two runs scored. The AppleSox finished up with a 7-5 victory over Kelowna in their final game. John was 0-4 but had two runs scored for Wenatchee, Gebbers ended up hitting .268 for the season with 43 games played, 157 at bats, 28 runs scored, 42 hits, 20 RBIs, 10 doubles, one triple, one home run, 16 walks, six stolen bases and 26 strikeouts. Brewster Blaze, 12 and under girls fastpitch team, placed second at the Selah Classic at Carlon Park on July 28-29.
