HArald Agril '3 lgg8 Page 7 Vranjes is medalist at Lake Woods golf meet Traci Vranjes fought through the windy conditions to win the girls medalist honors at a golf meet at Lake Woods Golf Course on April 14. Vranjes shot a 58 over nine holes to lead the Brewster girls and Lyndsay Webster shot a 78. Moses Lake was the only girls team with enough golfers to qualify for a team score and won with a 222. Josh Peterson, Okanogan, was the boys medalist with a 40. The Okanogan boys won the team title with a 175, Brewster was second at 197, Entiat took third with a 217 and Moses Lake placed fourth with a 226. Lance Dial led the Brewster boys with a 42 over nine holes, Jon Brown 45, Gabs Webster 52, Be Palmanteer 58, Eric Milton 59. Bridgeport was led by Chris Hurley with a 53 in nine holes, Cory Lyons 65 and Jason Lyons 66. Nannies split doubleheader with Waterville The Pateros Nannies softball team split with Waterville in a doubleheader last Saturday afternoon. Pateros got off to a slow start in the opening game of the doubleheader and lost to Water ville 14-4 on Saturday. Waterville jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first and was up 7-0 after two innings. Patcros scored two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings but Waterville answered with two runs in the fourth and four in the fifth to put the game away. "In the first game we did not come out ready to play," said Sheri Mortimer, Pateros softball coach. "We were tentative and sluggish -- both offensively and defen- sively. We didn't seem focused m we only had eight hits the entire game." Alecia Basler was 1-3 with P triple and one RBI to lead Pateros, Mary Beth Adamske powered up to go 1- 3 with a home run and two RBIs, Melissa Eten was a perfect 1-1 with a triple and one RBI, Paris Lilly was 1- 3 with a triple, Jenny Crooks went 1-3 with a double and Cindy Nickerson, Claudia Rios and Joey Bighouse all added singles. Pateroswas up 2-1 after the first inning and took charge with five runs in the second. Waterville scored two runs in the third, fifth and sixth but the Nannies put the game away with four runs in both the fourth and fifth innings. "I was pleased to see the kids turn it around in the second game," said Mortimer. "It was good to see some of the kids step up and hit the ball well m we had 18 hits in that game." Basler showed her power and was 2-3 with a home mn and three RBIs, Bighouse went 4-5 with a double and three RBIs, Lilly went 14 with a home run and two RBIs, Sara Troutman went 2-5 with four RBIs, Nickerson was a perfect 4-4, Rim; was 3-5, Adamske went 2-4, Crooks was 1-5 with one RBI and Chandra Morales went 1-5. Kelsey Boyd won the 300 hurdles, Nancy Rios won the 1600, Ruiz won the 400 meters and triple jump and Shawna Davis won the 800 meters. The girls 800 relay also won. Brewster rallied in the top of the sixth inning to take a 12-4 lead but Chelan answered with 11 in the bottom half of the inning to go up 15-12. The Bears scored three runs in the seventh to force extra innings, and both teams scored two runs in the eighth before Brewster put it away with two runs in the ninth. Cody Guns started the game on the mound and James McGee, Arturo Rios, Mike McGee and Dustin Boesel all relieved. Brace Boesel went the. distance and pitched 10 innings, gave up seven hits, five runs, 13 walks and struck out three. Cashmere held a 1-0 lead in the first and Brewster tied the game 1-1 in the third. The Bears went up 3-1 in the fifth but Cashmere scored three runs in the seventh to take a 4-3 lead. Brewster forced extra innings by scoring one run in the bottom of the seventh but Cashmere scored the game-win- ning run in the tenth inning.
