Merna Bowling, 68, was born July 5, 1929, in Lincoln, South Dakota, to Gifford and Cozy Thompson. In 1943, she moved with her family to Twisp and two years later they moved to Pateros. She graduated from Pateros High school in 1947. For many years Mema has called Omak her home, where she made many friends and touched many lives. Her family was a constant you to her. She gave birth to two but was mother to many. Being a grandmother was what Merna was proudest of. Her three grandchildren will be richer because of the legacy she left them. She will be missed by all who loved her. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cozette and Boyd Buz- zard of Omak; her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Judy Bowling of Everett; three grandchildren, Miranda Bowling, Mikel Buzzard and Emily Buzzard; two sisters, Betty Storm of Port Townsend and Margaret Ginter of Spokane. Also special in her life were Sherry Burdett of Seattle, Shawn Lassila of Okanogan, and GIo Lynn of Omak. She was preceded in death by her mother and father. At her request there will be no services.
